Good Morning!
A young 17 year old, very talented and gifted you man had all the earmarks of becoming a professional baseball player. He loved the Toronto Blue Jays and saw himself wearing their uniform but he got caught up with a desire to be in the minors (in the back of his mind, he thought it may lead to the majors but over and over he was moved from one minor league team to another because that’s where he seemed to focus). Although the minors were good and necessary, they weren’t the Blue Jays playing field.
He then thought. “if I get a personal trainer and work on the mental side of my game, that’s what I need to get onto the Blue Jay playing field”, but for too many seasons he was fixated upon his psyche and although good, it didn’t get him to that playing field.
The sad ending is that he never did get to step foot on the Blue Jay field as a player because he got so caught up in the preliminaries, thinking that in themselves, they were the answer to his quest.
He had the talent---he even had what we might refer to as the “call” but he didn’t even begin anything at ground zero on the Blue Jay playing field. All his preliminary goals, events and necessities, hindered him from stepping onto the field to begin working out his destiny, because he focused just on the minors.
We as Christians often do the same things. We think the:
Breakthrough
Being Set Free
Made Whole
The “More”
The Presence
Healing Past Wounds
Gaining more Bible Knowledge
are all things we need and there is some truth in that, but month after month and year after year of chasing these good things can hinder us from accomplishing the best; and the best is completing the purpose and destiny He designed for our lives. Although they each have merit, they cannot become the goal. They are all time spent in the Minor Leagues. They just bring us to the entrance of the stadium of our destiny.
God wants all these things for us but I believe He is even more interested in us fulfilling our purpose rather than searching for breakthrough after breakthrough.
Ecclesia---body of Christ---, it is time to get on with His task at hand getting off the merry-go-round of, yearning for breakthrough, healing and wholeness.
Can we put all that behind us now and, “stand up” as the body to finish the work of taking the Nation?
