Leaving a Legacy

George and Jemima Burt, 1909

Good afternoon!

Just over a century ago, my grandfather, George, left Scotland and along with his new bride, Jemima, and came to a rugged place called Canada as a missionary to the First Nations People's of Saskatchewan. Just recently a dear friend gifted me with this wonderful coat which I see as a significant sign of the legacy my grandfather left.

I want you to begin to think generationally. God is a generational thinker, in fact, He even spoke about 1000 generations, but I would like you to consider the next four. How can you intentionally leave a godly heritage for your great grandchildren and how can you influence our nation to be affected by God's Kingdom rather than the world's system?

I was fortunate to have grandparents who came to this nation with immediate purposes but with also an eye for their great great grandchildren.

Could we dare to ask God for us to be able to at least in some measure, think like he does? If we do not change the direction our nation is heading the purpose and focus of our nations founding and the men and women who purposefully name this country The Dominion of Canada will be lost.

We must think as one, act as one, and expect as one, if we are going to see our nation changed. Its possible if will yearn to leave a legacy in heritage of christian character and morality as god intended. It can be done, the best is yet to come!

Blessings, George

You say:
We must think as one, act as one, and expect as one, if we are going to see our nation changed. Its possible if will yearn to leave a legacy in heritage of christian character and morality as god intended. It can be done, the best is yet to come! How do we do that?
I believe the answer to that statement is found of course in scripture and in the beginning in Genesis 12 in the promise to Abraham and in Galations 3:13, 14 where God promises to give (all born again) believers the blessings of Abraham. " and in you (Abraham) all the FAMILIES of the earth shall be blessed".
So when considering your 'legacy' to your next generations of family, consider Abraham who by faith received the promise and faith without works Romans 4:1-25 so it is first salvation, acknowledging Jesus as Lord of your life, that is the model for your family and legacy. Abraham is not only a model of redemption by walking away from his idolatrous family tradition but he is God's model for man to recover his reign in life Romans5:17 He is the father of faith. Father being the key word. Through people of His covenant God establishes His Kingdom and through your family and therefore legacy of faith is your family established in covenant and the blessing of covenant and set up to be a blessing to all who cross their path and their spheres of influence and nation. Jesus said Matthew 5:3-5 His followers who humble themselves in faith shall also be recipients of the Kingdom and "shall inherit the earth". Jesus set the course to change nations through His covenant families and their legacy!
